<<Home <<Russia Cruises <<Russia Cruises FAQs The Severny River Terminal is a cruise departure port in Moscow. The terminal built in 1937, popularly known as Rechnoy Vokzal, is one of the two passenger terminals of river transport in Moscow. It is also the main hub for long-range Russia cruises.
The Severny river terminal is situated on the bank o fthe Khimki water reservoir. It was built at the same time as the Moscow Canal, in 1937 (architects Rukhlyadev and Krinsky, sculptor Yefimov and others, artist Danko and others). The terminal is an architectural monument and one of the symbols of Moscow. The building has a shape of a large vessel. The most remarkable architectural elements of the terminal building include a tall spire and abroad central staircase. The spire is topped with astar which used to decorate the Spasskaya tower of the Moscow Kremlin in 1935—1937. The sickle and hammer are encrusted with Ural gems. The terminal terraces are decorated with the “North” and the “South” fountains symbolizing the relations between the southern and the northern waterways of Moscow. Apark is adjoining the terminal facilities. The total length of the berths of the river terminal makes 1.5 kilometers. How to get to the Severny River Terminal? Address: 51 Leningradskoye shosse, Northern Outskirts. Take the metro to Rechnoy Vokzal, then walk 15 minutes due west, passing under Leningradskoe shosse and then through a nice park.
